Dysgraphia is a learning difficulty specific to writing which includes the following characteristics:
- Cramped grip, sore hand Poor spacial planning of sentences & margins
- Frequent erasing
- Inconsistent letter & word spacing
- Poor spelling, missing words/ letters.
Multisensory approaches to dysgraphia also work by explicitly teaching children handwriting, how to structure language, what to write, how to organise their ideas and get those ideas down on paper.
These interventions through one-on-one lessons can be tailored to individual needs, helping children progress at their own pace and focus on specific areas of difficulty. Overall, multisensory literacy interventions support children with dysgraphia by creating a rich, engaging learning experience that accommodates their unique challenges and strengths, fostering both skill development and confidence in their writing abilities.
